The creation of a hand-built raku tea bowl – a two-phase workshop led by ceramic artist Marcela Pospíšilová.
Raku pottery is a traditional Japanese ceramic firing technique that originated in the 16th century and was originally associated with the tea ceremony. Its defining feature is the rapid cooling of the pottery after removal from the kiln—often by placing it into sawdust, leaves, straw, or water. This process creates striking, often irregular color effects and characteristic surface crackling (known as craquelure).
Participation in both workshop sessions on the following dates is required:
• Bowl making and engobe decoration: January 20 | 5:30–7:00 PM
• Glazing and firing: February 3 | 5:30–7:00 PM
All materials for both workshops are provided.
Fee for both sessions: 500 CZK
