Creating a hand-pulled raku tea bowl – a two-phase workshop led by ceramicist Marcela Pospíšilová.
Raku pottery is a traditional Japanese technique of firing ceramics that originated in the 16th century and was originally associated with the tea ceremony. It is characterized by the fact that the ceramics are rapidly cooled after being removed from the kiln – often by placing them in sawdust, leaves, straw, or water. This process creates very distinctive, often irregular color effects and cracks (known as craquelure) on the surface.
It is necessary to participate in both workshops on the following dates:
Bowl making and engobe coating: February 17 | 5:30–7:00 p.m.
Glazing and firing: March 3 | 5:30–7:00 p.m.
Materials for both workshops are provided.
Price for both workshops: CZK 500
Registration: p.zavodna@knihovna-pardubice.cz
