The Christmas exhibition Sky Keys at the Museum of the Library Center U Vokolků presents historical prayer books that, for generations, opened a “gateway to heaven” for their readers.
Prayer books were an important part of popular religiosity and daily spiritual practice. They were accessible to broad layers of society through their clear content and poetic Baroque titles. Sky Keys, which were published until the end of the 19th century, became symbols of personal devotion, cultural tradition, and the commercial success of publishers and printers. They also formed the core of production at the Landfras Printing House in Jindřichův Hradec.
