Finding a Home in the Daily Lives of Young Ukrainian Students
The search for home is the central theme of this exhibition of photographs by young Ukrainian students. Inspired by approaches from applied and visual anthropology, the project captures subjective perspectives and experiences related to migration and adaptation to a new environment.
The images offer an intimate glimpse into personal stories—through depictions of everyday life, they capture moments of seeking closeness, a sense of belonging, and the transformation of identity and a sense of community. At the same time, they create a space for sharing experiences and invite viewers to open up new perspectives and ways of seeing the world.
The exhibition presents a selection from the project’s work to date and is the result of a long-term collaboration between Kalina, a community refugee center in Pardubice, and the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology at the Faculty of Arts, University of Pardubice. Curated by Milan Durňak, Ph.D., the exhibition invites visitors to reflect on a question that is both deeply personal and universal: What does home mean to us?
