Sound and silence exist in constant tension—one without the other makes no sense.
Students at Educa High School focus on moments when sound is born from silence and when, conversely, the background noise of everyday life is interrupted for a moment, allowing us to notice what usually goes unnoticed. They capture subtle, often overlooked sounds – rustling, breathing, footsteps, the distant hum of the city – using graphics and transforming them into visual traces and structures that refer to the acoustic experience.
This creates a series of situations and installations in which the viewer observes how their attention changes when sound symbolically disappears or, conversely, intensifies. Sound and silence function here not only as an acoustic concept, but rather as a metaphor for presence and absence, words and silence, closeness and separation.
