Advent in the library — a different kind of magic every day

This year, December at our library is all about a magical Advent calendar – behind each imaginary little window awaits a different experience: lectures, discussions, creative workshops, children’s laughter, unexpected literary worlds, and journeys across continents. Come and choose your moment of calm, inspiration, or joy. Throughout Advent, the library will be a place where imagination meets tradition and every seemingly ordinary day gains a festive touch.

• 25. 11. 2025 – 4. 1. 2026 | Unlocking Heaven: The Stories of Nebeklíč from the Landfras Press
  The Christmas exhibition at the Museum of the Vokolek Library Centre presents historical prayer books that for generations opened the ‘gateway to heaven’ for their readers.
• 29. 11. 2025 | A Day for Children’s Books – The Magical Advent Calendar
  A day full of crafts, fairy tales, and joy that will make children’s eyes shine just like the first Advent candle. Activity stations, musical stories, and little surprises open the Advent season
  in the most playful way. And we haven’t forgotten the adults either!
• 2., 9. a 16. 12. 2025 | Babymusic & Bookstart Mini-Sing-Alongs
  Rhythm, melody, and gentle rhymes that awaken children’s joy. Three Tuesday mornings offering parents and little ones shared musical moments in the safe and cozy atmosphere
  of the library.
• 3. 12. 2025 | Vokolek’s Reading Club
  A gathering of those who believe in the power of stories. Shared reading, perspectives on literature, and the discovery of new titles – a club that both inspires and soothes.
• 4. 12. 2025 | Lecture Unlocking Heaven: Stories of Nebeklíč from the Landfras Press
  A lecture on the exhibition of Nebeklíče, which were published until the end of the 19th century and became a symbol of personal devotion, cultural tradition, and the commercial success of publishers and printers.
• 10. 12. 2025 | Christmas Workshop: Robots and LEGO® Under the Tree
  Come and experience a festive adventure where imagination meets technology! In our Christmas lab, children will build holiday LEGO® creations and learn to bring mini robots to life through simple programming.
• 11. 12. 2025 | Digital Odyssey – Smart Phone, Beautiful Photo
  A workshop for those who want to capture (not only) the festive days with their smartphone more confidently and sensitively.
• 12. 12. 2025 | Scandinavian Christmas – Lecture and Workshop
  We’ll head north – among lantern lights, the scent of cinnamon, minimalism, and old traditions. An inspiring afternoon that brings the atmosphere of Scandinavian Christmas right to us.

  A stimulating, playful, and loving program for the little ones. Two mornings full of tactile experiences, creative restlessness, and the joy of discovery.
• 16. 12. 2025 | Author Talk: Mr. Baron’s Boutique
  A charming story about a tailor’s shop full of imagination comes to life in a meeting with its author, Marie Mrňávková. Hear about the making of the book, the illustrations, the puppets, and the magic of small details that create a home.
• 17. 12. 2025 | Studánky – What Women Wrote to Their Men in the Trenches of the Great War
  A poignant collection of letters that have survived history. The words of women, full of hope, fear, and courage, transport you into an intimate world where love becomes an anchor amid uncertainty.

  A travel expedition among rare species, mysterious forests, and stories from places where nature rules without compromise. Perfect for lovers of the exotic and adventurous.
• 20. 12. 2025 | Workshop – Rautis Christmas Ornaments
  A delicate tradition from Poniklá that has been passed down through generations. Come and create your own pearlescent ornament – an experience that becomes both a keepsake and

• And because Christmas is a time for sharing joy, some of our clubs and activities will be tuned to the festive spirit in December, so that even regular meetings bring a touch of Advent magic.
