- March 4 | Masaryk Society: February 1948 and the Role of Dr. Edvard Beneš
The lecture will highlight the key events of February 1948 that shaped Czechoslovakia’s trajectory for the following decades, as well as the role of Edvard Beneš during these pivotal days.

- March 6 | Cyprus: A European or Asian Country?
One island, two states. What led to the Turkish invasion of Cyprus, and why did efforts to reunify the island fail? Explore the island’s history after World War II.
The lecture is organized in cooperation with Europe Direct Pardubice.

- March 10 | Regional Recitation Showcase Wolkrův Prostějov 2026
A qualifying showcase of the most interesting solo recitation performances at Divadlo 29.
- March 11 | Vokolkův Reading Club
An informal gathering focused on contemporary Czech prose. For the March meeting, we will read the short story collection Osiřelo dítě. No reservation is required—just come and join us.
Meeting with a personality
- March 18 | Talk with Gabriela Brázdová
The author of the novella Hody sensitively captures interpersonal relationships, rural traditions, and shifts in values in today’s society. Learn about how a literary debut comes to life and the stories behind both the plot and its characters.
- March 26 | Talk with Lubomír Macháček
The novels and short stories of Lubomír Macháček, a writer, psychologist, and native of Pardubice, intertwine the human psyche, compelling stories, and the atmosphere of our city. Come and hear him talk about his work, inspirations, and his journey from psychology to literature.
- 25. března | Podnikání Židů na Pardubicku
A lecture from the Studánky series will explore the history of Jewish entrepreneurship in the Pardubice region, which began to develop after 1848 and ended with World War II.

Courses and Workshops
- March 19 | Brain March with Zora Voženílková
A gentle walk around Pardubice focused on attention, concentration, and connecting body and mind. The event is held under the auspices of Právě teď! o.p.s. and the Czech Society for Memory Training and Brain Jogging.
Meeting point: Bridge kapitána Bartoše → Destination: Příhrádek.
- March 20 | Digital Odyssey – Online Shopping
A practical course for seniors aged 65+ who want to learn how to shop safely using a smartphone—from finding products to making secure payments. Advance registration is required at the library reception.
- March 25 | A Story You Will Experience
90 minutes of literary discoveries, exciting reading, and creative activities. You will not only listen to the story about wishes, desires, and their unexpected consequences, you will truly experience it.
Events for Children
- March 27–28 | Night with Andersen – a popular overnight event for children aged 8–10.
This year, we will travel back to the age of kings. The theme is Charles IV, whose 700th birthday we are commemorating. The king himself will visit the library, and children can look forward to a quiz, a knightly tournament, a tour of the royal library, and a feast. Food and drinks will be provided by the library.
New Exhibitions
- From March 10 | Spring Touch of Time – at the Library Center Museum U Vokolků
A private collection by Vanda Rektorisová and Michal Klokočník will showcase artifacts from long ago miniature rooms, dolls in traditional costumes, our great-grandmothers’ cookware, and richly decorated Easter eggs.
- From March 17 | My Paper – in the library lobby and on the staircase
The exhibition by Irena Štyrandová showcases handmade paper in the style of Paper Art—from small artworks to free-form tapestries, large-scale pieces, and three-dimensional objects. The works feature natural colors as well as vibrant tones, ranging from delicate textures to robust forms.
