The Regional Library in Pardubice has received financial support from the National Recovery Plan, funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU, for the establishment of a new digitization lab.
Thanks to the project, we will be able to modernly and systematically digitize regional periodicals and monographs, making them accessible through the Kramerius digital library. The goal of the project is to preserve and broaden access to the cultural heritage of the Pardubice Region for both specialists and the general public.
Digitization at the Regional Library in Pardubice is closely linked with the care of the library’s collections. We are participating in the National Library of the Czech Republic’s project “Survey of the Condition of Modern Collections.” Every document undergoes a careful process, from selection (in collaboration with other memory institutions in the region), through cleaning and minor repairs, to the actual digitization, placement in protective casing, and finally, availability in the Kramerius digital library.
The project also involves collaboration with the public and other institutions. We welcome suggestions for documents suitable for digitization. Documents must have been published before the year 2000, have a regional connection to the Pardubice Region, and must not have already been digitized. We also appreciate offers to donate books and older regional newspapers, which can be professionally processed, preserved long-term, and made accessible to the public in digital form.
The project is implemented within Component 4.5.4 – Digitization of the Cultural and Creative Sector (Further Development of Digitization in Libraries II).
