Encounter with a Story: March Talks at the Library

11. February 2026

O knihovněUncategorized

March – the Month of Readers – is celebrated at the Krajská knihovna v Pardubicích as a tribute to words, stories, and personal encounters with those who create them. We have prepared two inspiring talks with remarkable figures of contemporary Czech literature – authors whose work invites both attention and conversation.

Our first guest, on March 18, will be Gabriela Brázdová, a talented writer from Brno. In 2025, she published her novella Hody, which resonated with both readers and critics through its sensitive portrayal of interpersonal relationships, rural traditions, and shifting values in today’s society.

Our second guest, on March 26, will be Lubomír Macháček, a native of Pardubice, psychologist, and author with an extensive literary body of work that includes dozens of books. Macháček is known for his ability to combine psychological depth with engaging storytelling – from short stories and novels to detective fiction, sci-fi, and children’s books. His writing often reflects interpersonal relationships, questions of personal identity, and real-life experiences, earning him loyal readers across generations.

Both talks offer a unique opportunity not only to listen to the authors share their experiences and inspiration, but also to engage in dialogue through questions and discussion. Come and gain fresh inspiration, discover the behind-the-scenes of literary creation, and deepen your connection to both the text and its creators.

BOTH TALKS WILL BE HELD IN CZECH.
